Q: can't join photostream even though device is up to date

I have received several photo stream invites and when I try to click on the join this photo stream button, it takes me to a page saying I need an updated device and icloud. I have a mac that is up to date and an iphone 5 that is up to date... any ideas?

iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.2

    ANd what version of iPhoto do you have?

    I have 9.4.2 on my macbook, and my iphone 5 is updated to the latest (just got it yesterday and did all updates)

    And in the system preferences are you logged into iCloud?

    Yep, logged in to icloud.  I can send other people photo streams nad they can join them fine.

    I am having the same exact issue, however my sister is getting the notifications to join the streams and we have logged out of iCloud and erased all photostreams from her iPhone 4S. My account is nowhere to be found on her pone but she gets the invites people send me on her phone. I have the iPhone 5 and get the invites in my email saying I've been invited but they won't do anything when I click in them and they don't show up under my photostream. And when my friends look back to who they invited it has her name but under my email address. I can also invite people to streams and see they accepted and comment but nothing else. It is driving me crazy.
