My 2012 27-inch iMac has image retention

Is it happening with any other Application/Software? See if you can isolate it to a GW2 issue. Is it still there after a restart? If you Quit the app is it still there? Apple Phone Support is free for 90 days after purchase, call them.

For future reference, I can't see your images; the latest iteration of forum software requires that you use the camera icon in the reply window, browse to your image/screenshot and directly upload them to Apple's servers - the image will then show in the post (rather than a link).

me too. apple says -

This is normal behavior for an IPS display, and the faint image will disappear over time.

There's another post on this for the iMac too. Also, search MacBook Pro retina image retention. You will get a quick idea about how apple is saying this is normal or they have a "test" for it that is a joke. Return it now, I've seen first hand what happens. Not acceptable on an LCD or a computer of this price.

If it is new it is under warranty. Let Apple deal with it.

Do you really want to spend your days at the genius bar on a brand new machine with people who are barely qualified to work on them, let alone tear one open when they are glued shut like an iPad? This is a recipe for disaster and your brand new computer will never be the same. I've spoken to a lead genius about servicing the new design. He was less than enthusiastic about ever having to open one up. Heat guns, suction cups, and sharp tools wedging between the frame and chassis. It didn't sound pleasant.

So you consider yourself more qualified than Apple technicians to repair it?

A reality check is required here.
