Snow Leopard/Time Machine

I am still using Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6.8) and I am now going to upgrade to Mountain Lion. I want to back up everything in Time Machine before I do this Will Time Machine via Snow Leopard still work with Time Machine via Mountain Lion? Will I run into any issues?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

BTW, I strongly suggest having a bootable backup/clone of your SL installation before going forward. That allows you to revert to a good OS.
