Can't remove App Store update tied to an old deleted user account (for an app that's also no longer installed)

I have been having the exact same issue as well. A macbook pro was bought for my significant other and at first we used my Apple ID to update her computer until she made her own. She has now made her own however everytime we attempt to update her software through the appstore it suggests to " Sign in to b**********@gmail.com to update applications for that account." In turn nothing can be updated and there is no option or way to delete my apple id from her computer. nor will it let us update newer updates with her email.

Well this is expected. Your apple id had ownership of those apps since you installed them. You don't magically just lose that because someone else is using the computer with another Apple ID.

This is a free app, which is installed in the Applications folder by default.

Take a look in there with finder. Delete it, and problem should be solved.

If you don't find it there, then we can try a few other tricks.

The company made a mistake in allowing the prior employee to register the new Mac with his own Apple ID. This Mac and it's operating system is physically registered to his Apple ID on Apple's servers. The company and the former employee will need to contact Apple Care to have this Mac released from the employee's Apple ID, then it will be free to register to another Apple ID. I suggest that the company rethink its policy and use company Apple IDs, not employee IDs to register the Macs during intial setup.

My search finds it perfectly in the Appications folder. Can you manually open that folder and look?

Can you give me the full Apple ID that is assigned to that app?

Do you know the person with this Apple ID? Was the Mac wiped clean before it was given to you? Are there apps that this previous person installed on the Mac still on it? If so, I suspect that there could be an expensive app that the previous user pirated and cracked with an app receipt from this Resizer app acquired with their own account.

Thanks Dah*veed for catching that (I'm an idiot again). In my sleep deprivation I need to be on better constant awareness of things like hijacked threads.

I'm also starting to suspect the warez theory but not fully sure yet. Don't remember this happening with the resizer app receipt before, but maybe it's a new one going around.

I'll try to dig around a bit more when/if I get a break today.
