Just trying to clean up my MBP but disc utilites won't work if I boot from my original OS disc (10.5.5 ) all the buttons are greyed out. Any one got any ideas please........

Hmmm, under the Apple icon>More Info, what does it say the boot drive is?
Thanks for your help it's really appreciated but when I rebooted from the OS disc to get the info you asked for,
ALL THE BUTTONS WERE WORKING AGAIN! You must be a magician!
I still have a problem with my Mac Pro if you fancy a stab at that........
