I just tried to set up a Canon CP-220 dye-sub printer. Can't get it to print anything from the computer, even though I can set it up in PrintCenter. It always says "stopped", Canon's website is useless, looks like they are unaware of Tiger at least as regards the CP-220 (driver software listed is for 10.1-10.3). Tried it using the "latest" driver software (2.4), and also using the Tiger built in drivers (CP-220 is listed, uses GIMP). This little printer will make beautiful prints direct from my Canon camera, but I want to be able to adjust levels etc and print from Photoshop.
Looks like the CP-220 on Tiger is okay. I tested it using the Tiger system GIMP driver (v5.0.0-beta2) and had no issues with the spooler stopping. I was able to print from iPhoto and PhotoShop CS2. This was all done on a G5 running 10.4.5.
Thanks PaHu, any chance you could test it with a system running 10.4.6? I've heard of things being broken by 10.4.6, so I'd love to know if its really that, or something else on my system interfering...

Installed the 10.4.6 Combo Update and still working. But as you said there has been numerous times where the updates kill the printing (just look throughout this forum...).
I would try (if you haven't aleady) removing the driver from the Printer List, restarting the Mac and installing again. Better still, if you don't have any other printers installed you could try using the Reset Printing System option in the Printer Setup Utility. This has helped a number of my customers.
Looks like it just needed a Restart after the uninstall. Working great now.
Bottom line was to not use the Canon driver (2.4 doesn't seem to work with OS 10.4.6), GIMP 5.0 beta 2 that comes with OS X apparently works just fine. If you install the Canon driver, use the uninstall function (via the Canon installer) and then restart your machine...
Thanks PaHu
(BTW, who do you fancy for the Ashes?!)

After (initially unsuccessfully) trying to print again a week later and pulling out what hair I have left, an extra note to add is
make sure you set the paper size correctly.
You need to make sure it's set for postcard paper otherwise it will refuse to print and not give any feedback as to why nothing printed...
