iCal syncs to iPhone, but iPhone doesn't sync to iCal

Using a cable or wirelessly iCal syncing only works one way: from iCal-->iPhone. MacBook Pro, 10.6.8, iPhone 4S iOS 6.0.1. Restarted both devices several times; reset sync options, selected calendars one at a time, changed number of days to sync. Any ideas?
