My desktop wallpaper keeps disappearing

I'm running the latest version of mountain lion on a retina macbook pro.

For a while I used an app called live wallpaper from the app store but got tired of it and wanted to go back to regular desktop wallpapers.

The problem is that now, every time I boot up, the wallpaper has disappeared and I just get the dark grey slate background. I've deleted the app from the applications folder but it's not made any difference!

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

**UPDATE** found the solution here and it worked perfectly!
