Windows 8 can't find files on iphone

I'm trying to import my pics from phone to computer in windows 8. I can see the phone and it even tells me how much storage I have left. But then it tells me there are no files to import. Help?? I could do this on my old computer!

iPhone 3GS, Other OS, Windows 8

Mine used to work just fine on windows8, so I don't know what happened to make it quit working, iTunes update or what. But now, it comes up and says no files can be found. I can transfer them manually. I tried the plugging in while unlocked and all that, as my phone is usually unlocked when I connect to my computer. I also checked what autoplay is set for on devices and drivers and I'm not finding any errors.

You have to make sure your phone and cable are unplugged. Now unlock your iphone and make sure it will stay on and not lock. Now plug the usb end of your cord into your computer. Now plug the other end into the iphone. It should see your pictures now. It is a security feature Apple put into the iphone. You cannot just connect the phone while it is locked and get pictures off of it. I guess Apple is too stupid to answer this question. It will copy all pictures and videos.

If after plugging in you do not get the import pictures feature go into your pictures tile and swipe up or bring up the import icon from the bottom with your mouse. Click it and it should show your apple iphone. Import. As long as the phone is unlocked BEFORE you plug it in, you should see your pictures.

WOW!!! Thanks to thecomputergenius, that was exactly the trick. Not to be snarky and bitchy buy why the F do users and good people like thecomputergenius have to come up with these answers??? Two of the largest computer companies in the world cannot get this S$&t straight but users can figure it out.

This would be like buying a car from Ford, only to find that the tires provided by Firestone have not been properly tested, and therefore fail the first time you enter a hard turn. It simply wouldn't be allowed in any other industry.

Thanks again!!!
