how do i show the battery percentage

How do i make the battery percentage show up on my ipod touch 4th generation operationg system ios 6.0.1??? I want it to be like an iphone where it says like 99% next to the little battery meter but i do not know how to. I tried going into setting general acessibily and the little button to turn it on was not there like the website said it should have been. I am very confused and would like help to make this happen....:)
