How do I reinstall the OS X using the startup disc that came with my computer? I cannot get to the desktop, so I need to do it immediately upon reboot. If possible, I'd like to reinstall the OS X without losing the content on my hard drive.

Thanks, but I cannot get to the desktop screen in order to double click the OS X icon. I need to do it using the disc as soon as I reboot the computer. Is there a key I can hold down while the computer restarts that will bring up the installation menu?
You must hold down the "c" key when booting up from system discs.
