What is the exclamation mark inside a triangle mean

My MacBook Pro froze on me. When I force restarted, I got a flashing ?. After retrieving Internet connection, I now have an ! Point. What does this mean and what can I do to not lose everything?

(It had a quote under the world saying "apple.com/support -2100F"

Which os version are you using?

Try the following - System Preferences/Startup Disk - select Machintosh HD, lock the padlock and restart your computer. Still get the ! inside the triangle?
