Does AppleTV stream from Windows PC?

I am thinking about purchasing an AppleTV and I keep reading about how it streams from all your IOS devices such as iphone ipad ect so I'm good on that aspect I just want to be clear that I also have a Windows 7 pc at home with Itunes and Wifi will I be able to stream that music and those videos that are on that PC onto the appleTV or is this just something that only work via apple devices? I would think not because my Ipad mini can play my itunes music from that PC but I just want to be sure because everytime I see an article I see something about IOS devices or Airplay or even jailbreaking which makes me grind my teeth.
