I just bought new Iphone 5. My last iphone was 4 with 32GB, but new Iphone 5 is only 16GB, therefore, a problem has happended that the back up could not be done due to not enough capacity.

I would like to ask that if I could  back up to new iphone only contacts and SMS (not need applications and photos as they took most of 20GB)

Thanks,

Khoa Trinh

    No such thing occurs.

About iOS Backups.  This covers what is included in a backup, it is all or nothing.

Backups have NEVER contained media or apps.

Restore the backup on the new device then select the apps and media desired to be synced to the device.

FYI, relying on a single device as storage of contacts is not smart.  Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.  Choosing not to use the device as designed is merely asking for problems.
