Trying to compile pdfgrep from SourceForge

I'd like to use pdfgrep for SourceForge. I've downloaded the source files http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfgrep/files/pdfgrep-1.2.tar.gz/download?use_mi rror=cdnetworks-kr-2

This gives me pdfgrep-1.2.tar.gz which then results is a bunch of files, one of which is pdfgrep.cc. It looks to me like a C progra file.

However, when I try to use the ./configure file they provide, to test system settings etc, I get an error the the gcc compiler cannot produce executable files. Why would that be?

When I try to do gcc pddfgrep.cc, I get a bunch fo notices that the program cannot find any of the .h files.

I would like to be able to import functions into the Unix setup and use them, but the future looks rather bleak in the respect. Does anyone know how to get these kinds of things to complie and be useable on a Max Unix system?

Thanks. I do appreciate your taking the time to look at this.

You need to install XCode and its command-line tools package in order to compile these programs from source. Your best bet for continued feedback on this would be to post this question in the Developer Forum (https://discussions.apple.com/community/developer_forums) or in the OS X Technologies Forum (https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_technologies).
