hello...am having a macbook PRO 13" 2012(MID) MD101 Its 4GB RAM 500GB HDD..13.3"/2.5 i5/2x2GB/500-5400.....
NOW AM PLANING TO UPGRADE MY MACHINE TO 16 GB RAM...240GB SSD ! WILL THIS HELP ME IN IMPROVED GAMING AND VIDEO EDITING PERFORMANCE....???

Both options will increase the video editing performance a lot, but for gaming, only the SSD could increase it a bit. The main difference will be on video editing

The increase in Memory (RAM) will likely help a fair bit with Video Editing.
Only quite intense games at this point are utilizing above 4GB.
As for the SSD, you will see a nice improvements in load times and any taskthat would involve reading from the storage drive.

Each has their benefits.
16GB of RAM is obviously better for editing that 4 or 8.
SSD will be quicker but less storage.
MBP 15 2012 have an i7 which will see a nice increase in processing and you get 500 or 750Gb storage.
not to mention the screen size.
personally i'd go the upgraded 13 inch and purchase an external drive for any additional media.

Since the OP specifically mentioned gaming, the 15-inch will be better because it has a discreet graphics processor. An upgraded 13-inch model will still come nowhere near the 15 in gaming performance.
Benchmarks show the Nvidia 650M to about twice as quick as the onboard HD4000 that your 13inch has. And the i7 certainly wouldnt hurt gaming either.
Its definitely a valid point to consider, but I only offered my opinion (which remains the 13").
