Disabling "shot detect" in FCP X

Is there any way to disable the auto scene detect in FCP X? I've got a box of mini-dv tapes shot on a Canon GL2 I need to capture. FCP has been "auto clip detecting" then into clips that are only a few frames or a few seconds long. Is there any way to turn off this "feature"? Thanks!

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Well, I just downloaded Vidi to import over firewire. It works great, it's free and my 60 minute tapes are all captured as one file instead of 100 clips a minute. I'll import them into FCP and convert from there.

Why did I spend $300 on Final Cut Pro again...?

To input a tape into the mac you could just have used Quicktime Player, already on your mac...

Maybe Final Cut Pro is not worth $300 to you, or maybe it is. That hugely depends on what you want or need it to do for you. And since there is a free 30-day trial, you could have checked it out before buying.

I can say that it is worth a lot more than that *for me*.
