Error with sync. Where do I go for manual sync. No clear instructions. Where is

First time user. Nano 7th generation. Tunes charged and downloaded but not sync'd. Intructions say it will sync for 1st time connections after purchase, but didn't. Where is file to manual sync? How else can I sync what I paid for?
