iPod touch will not sync with iTunes

I just bought a refurbished ipod touch, 4th generation. I configured it as a new iPod Touch. I then plugged it into my laptop, and although the iPod shows up in windows explorer, iTunes will not recognize it. I followed all the steps given by apple support on the topic, including reinstalling iTunes, and nothing has worked.


I'm running windows 8, 64 bit. Any help appreciated!

I'm having the same problem. Took me forever just to get iTunes installed, but once it did, it initially 'sees' my iTouch 4, but can't seem to maintain the connection, telling me to disconnect & try again later. The last time I tried, I got a pop-up about "sync-services" couldn't talk to the iTouch and to reconnect & try again.
