why does my mac screen suddenly get big?

Why does my screen suddenly zoom in? I can't figure out what triggers it and how to get back to normal display size

PowerMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), suddenly everything is zoomed

Hi Napkin,

Two-finger pinch on the trackpad? This normal Mac behaviour. Click on System Preferences in the Dock and choose the Scroll and Zoom tab for a demo.

Thanks Yellowbox. I wasn't using a track pad, but the solution was the same for my mouse. Somewhere along the road I missed the fact that a double click on the mouse zooms and unzooms.

Check System preferences > Universal Access (or whatever politically correct name has replaced that). You may have turned on Zoom.
