desktop calculator?
I am a new Mac user. Please help! How do I get the calculator that's in the dashboard onto the desktop?

Very unhelpful. Sorry, but the calculator app does not show on my desk top screen no matter how hard I pound the cursor pad or return button. Extremely frustrating.

You might want to consider starting a new discussion. Since this one is a couple of years old, less people are likely to look at it. A new post would be much more visible. You can link to this one.
His suggestion was to put in in the Dock, not on the Desktop. Will the application not open or are you wanting it to show on the Desktop? If you want it on the Desktop, make an alias by going to the Applications folder, selecting the application, then Finder/File/Make Alias. Then drag the alias to your Desktop.
Use the calculator app, /Applications/Calculator, instead of the Dashboard calculator.
Then you can keep it open or place it in the dock for ready reference.
You can also use spotlight (the maginifying glass in the upper right corner of screen, next to notification center if running mountain lion) as a calculator.
Yup. New to mac as well and you can do "Command" + "Spacebar" for Spotlight, just type whatever calculation you want, or just type "calculator" and press "Enter" for a desktop calculator. Have to love spotlight even better!
Hi Carl,
I made a short video showing you how to put the calculator on the desktop, hope it helps.
Thanks for the video it helpedđź‘Ť-1F3FE;
You are welcome!
I changed from Windows to Mac and it's was a nightmare to understand the desktops environment on Mac and the workflow and shortcuts for Chrome.
