can't permanently delete photos from Photo Stream

I had successfully manually added photos to Photo Stream, and these were all I wanted. Now, photos keep getting automatically added, no matter what I uncheck. I only want one set of photos on there. No matter how many times I delete, uncheck "auto add", etc., they keep showing up. iCloud info says that I should reset from with
