Q: My apple tv is not recognizing my iphone whats wrong?

I have jst got a new apple tv, its connected to my wifi, so is my pc and my iphone. I have home sharing turned on and have downloaded all the latest software for Itunes, iphone and apple tv. I am not getting the symbol for airplay on any media. Is the apple tv faulty? My wife purchased it on apples website

First up try a reboot of the router or modem, it can sometimes help.

I tried that too, even reset the apple tv, reset the router, turned off the iphone, restarted the laptop, im really starting to think the apple tv is not working, although i would find this a bit unusuall as anything else from apple seems to work great, I wonder has anyone else had this problem???

Do you mean the mirror icon?  Check they are all on the same network, if apple TV picks up the router and the rest the main modem that would be your problem (took me a while!).  Also confirm your iphone is 4s or newer to support mirror, for the PC you need airparrot to mirror, www.airparrot.com.

Ignore above if I have picked up your issue wrongly!

Sure ponie, but confirm which iPhone you have, if it is 4 or older it will not support mirror.

Good luck, hope you get it sorted.

    Hi

The Apple Tv Mirroring icon is in a rather obscure place on your iphone.

Make sure your iphone has wifi onand connected to the same wifi neywork...

    1.  Double clcik the main button at the bottom of your iphone

    2.  This will bring up all of your currently ACTIVE apps

    3.  Scroll /swipe all the way to the far left icon which will be your volume control

    4.  There is a new icon there (a box with a triangle) and that is your Airplay icon

    5.  Click on the Airplay icon and selct Apple tv.

    Cheers

I have recently upgraded to ios 6.1 on my iphone 5, itunes and my atv2 are also up to date.  Since the updates, my air sharing has been broken.  all 3 devices are on the same network, but can't see each other.  I have tried rebooting, re-enable air sharing and nothing has worked so far.  When I opened Remote on my iphone, I can't even see my itunes library on my imac or my appletv.

This is really frustrating!  Any idea what else I can try?  everything worked before the updates..
