Dec 30, 2012 10:54 AM in response to Traveller5by stevejobsfan0123,You can't change it. You don't have to "disconnect" your Apple ID, you have to sign up with a new Apple ID to pick a new username. The only time the moderators will change a username is if personal information is revealed.

Dec 30, 2012 10:56 AM in response to Traveller5by Traveller5,It seems like it would be so simple to allow people to simply edit their username. Is there a reason?

Dec 30, 2012 11:01 AM in response to Traveller5by Kappy,I'm sure there is, but we aren't privy to it.

Dec 30, 2012 11:21 AM in response to Traveller5by Frank Caggiano,The under lying software that runs this site, Jive, does not allow for the changing of names once an account is created.

Dec 30, 2012 11:34 AM in response to Frank Caggianoby Kappy,I went to check out the Jive documentation superficially, and it would appear that user accounts can be removed and edited by the system or user administrator. I would bet that Apple does not permit that because of the probable increase in the moderators' workloads trying to keep up.
But it appears (and I may be wrong about it) that users could be allowed to make such changes to their own accounts. I don't know how much trouble that may create security-wise of work-wise.
Then I may be misunderstanding the outlined material.

Dec 30, 2012 5:37 PM in response to Kappyby Frank Caggiano,I guess I should have phrased my reply better
While some versions of the underlying software running this site do allow the changing of user names, this specific instance of the software does not.

Dec 30, 2012 7:24 PM in response to Frank Caggianoby Kappy,Out of curiosity how do you come to know what Apple is using? Did Matt reveal this during the beta testing?

Dec 30, 2012 7:32 PM in response to Kappyby Frank Caggiano,There have been a few times in the past months when the site here has had its problems that instead of getting the normal We're doing maintenance screen from Apple it's gone all the way down into Jive.

Dec 30, 2012 7:36 PM in response to Frank Caggianoby Kappy,Ahh, so this is something only you are privy to, I take it? Then I'll ask no more questions of you that might push against your NDA.

Dec 30, 2012 7:39 PM in response to Kappyby Frank Caggiano,No not privy to anything, it was just the way the system happened to crash at that time. I have no special relationship here.

Aug 16, 2016 9:18 PM in response to stevejobsfan0123by s12e,I set my username as my full name, using my company account. How can I alert the moderators to change this?
Thanks!
