I recently got an iPhone 5 and a new laptop and want to transfer everything from my old iPhone on laptop including music and videos which I didn't purchase through iTunes but only seems to be able to transfer purchased files please help as I'm getting rather frustrated

From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

Once you get it sorted... would advise creating an iTunes backup... use the info already provided.

Then you restore the media to your new computer from the most recent backup you made of the old one. The iPhone is not a backup device.
