cannot remove slideshow from iphoto

I have a MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.8.2 and iPhoto 9.42.

I have a slideshow that will not delete, when I click on it I get the spinning rainbow ball.

When I force quit it shows iPhoto is not responding.
