Cutting imac stand and Warranty

My 27" is not the new one, but still a huge piece of equipment. I am unable to sit and look up at the monitor without getting a very severe (stiff) neck ache - ideal ergonomic position is supposed to be your eyes (looking straight ahead) should be near the top of the screen. So, I came up with an unusual, albeit perfectly working, alternative: I moved my computer off my desk and put it on a lower cabinet. I have a small lapdesk (more like a tray) from Logitech on my lap with keyboard and mouse (or trackpad), and sit back in my comfortable chair. For me, an ideal solution.

I was going to suggest the samething that Babowa suggestioned but he beat me to it.

Cut a hole, a Recess, in your desk for the stand to sit in. It won't void the warranty on your desk.

I like it. Get that router out and cut the desk.

The idea of cutting a hole in a desk reminded me of other possibilities I had explored: google for height adjustable desks - there is quite a selection available. There are some where the back half or third is adjustable for the monitor; the front is stationary.

Yes, you found exactly what I had looked at - I was going to go that way until I just decided to reconfigure my study and had enough room for my separate cabinet.

I don't see why it should; you're not altering the computer in any significant way. Cutting the stand from the bnottom should be no different than accidentally scratching the case. If they refuse to honor your warranty, I suspect you could successfully sue them.
