Q: Airport Express as WAN?

I am excited that I am finally switching my IP to an apple supported company and will be buying a airpot extreme and express this weekend to create a new network. My dilema. We have a solar panel system, with the control unit in the garage, that needs to be connected to the internet to provide system performance to the company. I am going to create my "main" wifi and network with the extreme in the office. Can I use the airport express as an extender? and will it provide internet access point in the garage? Which port plug would I put the solar systems RJ45 cable in?

You can use the AirPort Express to extend the wireless signal > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4259

You have to connect it to an Ethernet port, but not the DSL port (that's for connect the AirPort with the modem)

so when looking at the back of the airport express I would pick the LAN plug <---> ..... correct?

Thank you for your help - would this process be the same for other devices that I wanted to "hard wire" ie smart TV's etc?

With them, if they have Wi-Fi, you can connect them wirelessly, but you don't have to use AirPort Utility or something like that. Just search for Wi-Fi networks, select your AirPort, type your password and you can connect them to the Internet without any problem

Just wanted to share with the community. About 2 weeks ago installed my extreme base station (which I love and missed so much the last few years) and was able to connect the extender that came with our solar system to the base station wifi. I called and verified with Sungevity (the solar company) that they were receiving telemetry. As I did not need an express, I returned it to apple. All worked out well! Thanks
