MPEG-2 Transport Stream conversion to IMovie

I am trying to open my MPEG-2 Transport Stream (VLC) in Quick Time in order to use it in my IMovie but it does not work. Do any one know of a program that, in an easy way (not Video Converter), automatically converts my MPEG-2 Transport Stream to an IMovie functional format? I have a Panasonic HDC-SD800 film camera.
