How can I delet apps from iTunes

Hello

I have a number of apps in my iTunes on my computer that I would like to delete, at one time you could highlight the app and press delete, it now seems that you can not delete them.

Can some one help please as I want to clear out some apps, I have tried loading them on to my phone and then deleting, but this does not work.
