I have a problem with the right serial number? It will not take it!

I have the appletv s/n right! But it will not work and I am asked again and again and it will not take it. It is the right number exactly! I also am not sure how to get Netflix after this hurdle is over.

Apple TV (3rd generation), iOS 5.1.1
