Can I run Windows Vista on my MacBook with Mountain Lion with BootCamp 4.0?

There seems to be some ambiguity about running Windows Vista on my MacBook.

My configuration is:

  • MacBook mid 2010 13" 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo with 4gb RAM
  • Mountain Lion
  • BootCamp 4.0
  • Windows Vista Ultimate (64 bit)

I'm not wedded to BootCamp 4.0 - that's what Mountain Lion upgraded me to, but if I can/have to run an older version, that's fine with me if it will work. I installed Vista just fine on my MacBook, but when I went to install the BootCamp software onto the Vista partition, it said "only runs with Windows 7" and I only have VIsta here (and would not like to go spend more money on 7...)

My sons new Phoenix RC4 flight simulator is a Windows product and he can't fly his new RC plane without doing some practice on the flight simulator....

Any help is greatly appreciated!

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

OK - I must have been looking at either earlier versions of Mac OS or some other confusion...

Is there no way at all to run Vista? (earlier version of anything on my MacBook?)

I really hate the idea of spending another $100 on Windows 7, since I cant be certain that my RC simulator will run on the Mac even with Win 7 installed....

Thanks!
