How can iTunes manage apps better?

Are there any ideas for improving apps on multiple iOS devices? The challenge is that iTunes provides no method of seeing what apps are on each device from a central location. I purchase an app on 1 device, then have to remember to get it on others individually. And the "app" section of iTunes really ***** with no grouping or organization - playlists for apps would be nice.

Am I missing a feature in iCloud? Somethink like "Manage my Kindle" where I can see all the apps I have purchases and then "assign" them to any of my iOS devices?
