Hi:
Notes is a great app. However, it makes multiple copies on my iPad and iPhone with each time it was changed, but not on my laptop and iMac.
Can I get it to synch and just have one copy that is identical on the cloud that can be accessed anywhere?

I ran: rm -rf ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Notes
All seemed to go fine, but I still have multiple copies of Notes on my iOS devices, but only the one appropriate copy on my 3 Macs running Mountain Lion.
Any ideas how to nix the extra copies on the iOS devices?

Thanks for the two excellent links. However, there is no option to deselect the option to Sync Notes in the Info pane. Instead, in the info pane, there are paragraphs saying:
No mention of anything to do with Notes.

Just read another thread - are you syncing a Gmail/Google account of some kind with the iPhone?
If you look at the accounts setting in Notes, do you have some of the same notes stored in two different accounts?
Looking at an iPod Touch, when in the accounts section, there is an option to show all notes, which if you have multiple accounts set up, could be the problem

Yes, I have that problem. I have create noes in multiple note accounts without knowing or wanting. Now my issue is how do you sync all those notes into the iCloud note account? Hopefully there is a way. Now that I know the confusing these multiple note accounts has caused me I remember not to slide the botton to the right when creat a new e-mail account.
Has this been resolved? I too am having an issue with using a Gmail account to store my notes. No duplicates are being shown on my macbook pro, but old copies (i.e. ones that have since been edited on my macbook pro) are still showing up on my iPad and iPhone. Thanks for the help.
Still a problem in Mavericks for me...
And still a problem in Yosemite for me. I'm using Google to sync and I suspect it has something to do with inconsistencies/discrepancies in the data as syncing is taking place. None of the fixes have worked for me.
