Q: repair permissions still needs repair

Everything's repaired which is going to be; the rest of the messages are either statuses or updated OS components.

If your permissions have been repaired, it will say at the bottom,"permissions have been repaired".  There will almost be some permissions that will ned repair, that does not mean there is a problem.  Using the same procedure>Go utilities>disk utilities>select your user disk (usually Mac HD), highlight that, then click verify disk, if there are errors there they will be displayed at the end. If repair disk is not grayed out click that, if it is you will need to use the install disk, and select repair disk.    ATB

Try updateding to 10.6.8, they have fixed lots of stuff.

Nothing is wrong; the messages are information only and result from updates that weren't communicated to Disk Utility's permissions database.

As long as the bottom line says 'permissions repair completed' all is well.

Ditto and 10.4 for Permissions is nothing like 10.6.
