Mail (OS 10.8.2) hangs and spins continually. have to force quit and restart.

Please follow these instructions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.

Back up all data.

Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy it to the Clipboard (command-C):

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail

Quit Mail.

In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar. Paste (command-V) into the box that opens, then press return. A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Trash.

Relaunch Mail and test.

Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.

I have what is probably the same issue with an 07Imac, 6gig, system...however...I am migrating my data to a new 16 gig IMac as I write. I would like to use Mail on my new system, but do not want to go through what I have been through the last couple of weeks with this Mail issue.

So a couple of questions if you would be so kind;

* Is this an issue caused by MLion upgrades from Lion? (IE, with a newly loaded system, no issue?)

* What is causing it? (Mine started manifesting when I added another email account to the Mail Client. (Road Runner and ICloud, RR is when it started)

* This one is as much an observation. If there is this "known" issue with an Apple application that comes with the Apple OS, that does not bode well for Apple's code testing? Add to that, the fact that folks seem to be having the same issue 6 months later and there is no code patch?

I use IMovie and Iphoto along with some 3rd party apps primarily. Mail is a "nice to have" on the same nice big screen, however, I'd rather do email on my MS Outlook Dell laptop and not go through the hassle. (With an IPad and the Imac I almost got rid of the MS Dell laptop....glad I didn't...now thinking of getting a new one)
