Jan 3, 2013 3:01 PM in response to Marmineby roam,It seems the iPhoto application is missing a component. It is probably easier to reinstall it.
There are two parts to iPhoto, the application and your content (photos).
The application is found in Applications.
The content is usually located in your Pictures folder called iPhoto Library. Do not remove this Library as these are your photos.
It is not available for download.
iPhoto was originally (1) installed on your computer and will be on the original grey DVD, or (2) it was added later from an iLife DVD or (3) copied over from an older OS after you upgraded to 10.6
Reinstall the iPhoto application.
First drag the iPhoto application, found in Applications, to the trash.
Next install it back on to the computer either from the DVD, or from the backup if there is one.

No, you are misunderstanding. I am suggesting you reinstall just the one application called iPhoto. Please re-read my previous post. Also please re-read the the Apple article link provided in the previous post.
