problem with USB super drive and powered USB hub

I have tried to use my USB super drive with a Macessity powered USB hub, and get an error message that the drive must be powered to be used. I have checked the usb hub twice, and even replaced it. I still get this message. It only operates from a USB port on the iMac itself.
