Q: no mirroring even though icon shows it?

I downloaded the latest apple tv update and since then I can not mirror my macbook pro screen All the menu items seems to be correct and I am receiving pictures from the apple tv menu but when i turn on mirrowing feature my tv screen is blank any ideas

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

    I bought AppleTV a month ago. I have a Macbook Air (bought 4 months ago). I upgraded to Mountain Lion. Everything seems like it should allow Airplay mirroring, but the sceen goes blank, then reverts back.

     

    I ran the AppleTV sw update hoping that would help, but it's behaving the same. Help please!
