Q: my com.apple.FinalCut.plist is not in the preference folder. my fcpx is running slow

i tired to clean out the final cut plist to speed up my fcpx but it is not in the preference folder. i also ran a search and it doesnt show up why is that and what do i do now???

3.06 Ghz intel core 2 duo, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

    Are you looking in your user Library folder or the system Library folder? The FCP preferences are user specific and only located in the user library.

     

    In the Finder, click the Go menu while holding down the Option key. Keep holding option and select Library from the menu. This is your user Library where the preferences should be found.

    no its is not there. i went into the mac HD> library>prefernces> there is no fcpx.plist.

    You are looking in the system library. As I explained above, you need to look in your user library (the library that matches the account you are logged into).

     

    Review this Apple support document. You are already at step 9 in the process if you are attempting to reset preferences. Be sure to use the directions that match the version of MacOS X you are using. The steps are different between versions.

    thank you. i found the correct library folder by pressing the option key. for some reason that folder was light grey as if i did not belong there. any way i found the fcpx.plist and deleted them. once again thank you. im back up to speed....
