One thing I am a little surprised at with the black AppleTV 2 and 3 is that to get steaming music/music videos of purchased itunes content from the internet, you have to subscribe to itunes match, whereas Movie/TV Show purchases are available to stream for free.

Of course itunes match will match or upload your non-iTunes purchases too so there is some benefit there, but I do find it odd you have to pay to stream prior purchases from the cloud.

As Kappy mentions you must have the computer on and itunes running if you want to access content from your local iTunes library even if said content is stored on a network drive. iTunes hasd a key role in telling AppleTV what content is in your library and effectively 'feeds' the stream to the AppleTV on demand - no iTunes no music!
