Wifi disruption

Just had a new iPad for Xmas. I love it but whenever I use it near my wife's laptop, her wifi connection to our router drops. I'm pretty sure it's the iPad that's causing it as she's not had any problems before I had the iPad. Also when I lock the iPad and take it out of the room and refresh the laptops network connection it's fine. I have the iPad 3. My wife's laptop is a Samsung netbook.
