Someone Stole My iPad 2

I'm on a family vacation in Jamaica and last night someone broke into our hotel room and stole my iPad 2, sister's iTouch, and brother's HTC. My iPad is registered in "Find My iPhone" but it can't locate the device because it's not connected to the internet. I doubt the police can do anything about it here because Jamaica isn't a very high-tech place or very secure. Any ideas? Has anyone found a stolen/lost Apple device?
