Q: my ipod has been connected to my computer, charging. It is dark gray and unresponsive.  What now?

My ipod classic was working fine.  I charged it using my Mac as I always only do. It is now dark gray and unresponsive.  When I went to disconnect it said something about ipod in recovery...now what?
