syncing roland 303 with Logic Audio 6.1

I am trying to sync my roland tb303 with Logic 6.1 in OS9. I have turned on the midi clock under song settings/midi and am using a midi/sync converter between my mt4 midi box & 303 but the 303 does not run. Any suggestions ??

G4(733)Silver, Mac OS X (10.3.9), I also use OS9 for Logic Audio 6.1

Is this an old original silver 303 or one of the new remakes? What kind of sync converter do you have? I use an old MSQ 700 to go from midi to DIN sync but not for quite some time now. Is logic set to transmit MIDI clock and not MTC? I can check that the MSQ is running as a trouble shooting step. Does your sync converter respond with any kind of indication that it is getting a signal?

Thanks 4 the reply. I am using a midi-sync converter from Dtronics (Holland). The converter is meant to flash if it is receiving a midi signal (it doesn't). When I enable the midi clock in Logic it does not play without reverting back to internal immediately. When the lead is attached to the 303 (sync in) the 303 will not run. I have tried this every which way & am completely stuck. Any ideas ??

It sounds like you are putting logic in MIDI recieve mode as opposed to enabling the MIDI clock send. (Did the bar at the top get blue?) Im not at my studio, but my key command for opening the sync send dialog is "command-Y" (not sure if thats a preset key command or if I customized it) you could try it. I'll be at my studio at around 2pm pst to check and will post again at that time. You must send the midi clock to the MIDI out port that goes to your syncbox.

OK. The sync output dialog is under file/song settings/synchronization. Select the MIDI tab (looks like a file folder, NOT the little icon at the top)Then you can check the "transmit MIDI clock destination 1" box. Usually you can get away with selecting "All" on the pull down menu and not worrying about which port goes where, but some older MIDI gear freaks out if it sees MIDI clock. If you have to just select the proper port from the list. If you have the MIDI out from the computer to the MIDI in on your sync box you should be good to go!
