I doubt 2 DVD discs would fit in the Apple slot load superdrive, there just isn't enouigh room unless you PUSHED it in all the way. If the drive Sucked the disc in then there is only that one disc in it. So that being said what is not happening? Like the disc won't eject?
it didn't suck it in, and I did posh it. That's why I think there are 2 in there, unless it was broken and not pulling it in on its own.
The disk wont eject. I have rebooted while holding down the track pad and also the eject button.
Then I'd say the drive is broken. I haven't, and I'm not going to try, to push a second disc in my DVD drive but I seriously doubt 2 discs could fit inside the drive without pushing in the second disc with great force. There just isn't enough room inside the drive for a second disc to be inserted.
So that leaves one thing. The drive has failed.
If it turns out that your Superdrive has failed, And it is no longer under Warranty, you can save money by just purchasing any commonly available external USB DVD/CD writer, such as the excellent LG brand units sold on Amazon, for about $30 US. I've used an LG writer for years to save wear and tear on my older Superdrive.
Launch the Terminal app in /Utilities, copy & paste this command into the window that pops up, and hit the return key:
drutil eject -drive internal
That should eject anything in the optical drive's slot.
Thanks,
I took your advice and hear the drive trying to eject the disk, but nothing comes out.
Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you might be eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine (depends on where you're located). BTW, the AppleCare Protection Plan's the best warranty policy available for desktop machines. Get it if you don't have it before contacting Apple.
