Aperture doesn't open after clean installation of Mountain Lion

I have just done a clean installation of mountain lion.

After that, I have downloaded my copy of aperture from the store and installed it ( i think, just becase when done, at the store says that it is installed )

But when I try to launch aperture from de applications menu, an error appears and aperture quits immediatelly. The error says that, "an error has occurred. You should reinstall aperture or could be your operating system is not supported", more or less, translating it from the Spanish.

I have been searching for the installed files with finder, but nothing seems to be installed at the hard disk. Even the library that tipically appears at the Pictures folder doesn't appear.

Could somebody help me, please?

kind regards to everybody.

That is a well-known bug:

Dyld Error Message:

Library not loaded: /Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager

Referenced from: /Applications/Aperture.app/Contents/MacOS/Aperture

Reason: no suitable image found. Did find:

A framework is missing from your system library. This is best be fixed by reinstalling your MacOS X version. You must have installed something else after installing the System, for example Final Cut (Aperture 3.x: Aperture unexpectedly quits if Final Cut Express 4 is installed). This installation usually causes this kind of system corruption. To fix this, install Mt. Lion again on top of the current system, so you do not have to install Final Cut again, if that was what has been causing this.

I have been searching for the installed files with finder, but nothing seems to be installed at the hard disk. Even the library that tipically appears at the Pictures folder doesn't appear.

The library will only appear, if Aperture has been run at least once. But are you saying, there is no Aperture.app inside your "Applications" folder?

The Crash report shows an Aperture application package in the Applications-folder: /Applications/Aperture.app/Contents/MacOS/Aperture

Many thanks leonieDF.

Yes. First thing that I did when I installed Mountain Lion was to install my copy of Final Cut Express. Then, I installed Numbers and Pages, and finally Aperture.

I could download Aperture to my applications folder, but when I double clicked over the aperture icon, the crash report apeared, as I have shown you.

But I have been using Final Cut Express in the past running over Mountain Lion, and aperture was also installed withouth problems. I think that the reason could be because I updated from Snow Leopard, then to Lion and finally to Mountain Lion.

You are saying that I could reinstall Mountain Lion again over my current system but I'm afraid my osx could turn into an unstable system.

Many thanks for your help. It was really usefull

You are welcome.

You do not necessarily need to do a clean install again, since you just did one. The only thing that really is missing is the plug-in manager framework and the reinstall will restore that. This is the bug-fix recommended by Apple in there support article.

Then make a copy of this framework, so that you can restore it without reinstalling, if need be.

Léonie
