apps on Apple tv?

No, not on the Apple TV directly, but some apps on iPhones, iPods and iPads can be streamed to the Apple TV.

can you give me some examples of apps that stream?

Filmon is one I have used to stream from.

iphone4s, ipad2 and later support

airplay mirror which mean all apps can displayed on the appletv

that is unless the app is written to block that feature
