Time Machine backup failure

I keep getting a backup failure message that says "The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data-1/My Name’s iMac.sparsebundle” is already in use." What does this mean and how do I get it to back up again? Time Machine has 1 terabite of memory and my Mac is only using 300 Gig, so I'm not exceeding memore capacity.
