connecting ipad to nikon s800c smart camera

I have a new Nikon Coolpix S800c Smart Camera. It is "supposed" to upload pics from camera to tablets. I downloaded "Connect to S800c" from Itunes onto my Ipad. I have activated both camera and ipad to sync but they continue to just keep searching for each other? I have no idea how to get them to recognise each other. The camera does run Android but I was able to download the app from Itunes. I tried syncing it with my daughter's android tablet, but it still does not recognise anything. It is driving me insane!! Can anyone please help me?
